The Fall had been working on a new album when Mark E Smith died in 2018 which is now finally coming out as Post Script. A song from the album has now been shared.
“30 Degrees” sounds surprisingly big, by Fall standards, with synths layered with roaring guitars and a low, rolling bassline. Not bad but one wonders if this would actually sound quite like this if MES were still alive. And would he want a Fall album to be released without him being part of the process all the way?
Regardless, it’s good, one of “9 absolute bangers” on Post Script according to Ed Blaney who played in The Fall in the early-’00s and also spent time as their manager. Give it a listen below.
Full details on Post Script are still to be revealed.
